How to Install OS/2 Desktop Driver & WIN-OS/2 Full-Screen Session
-----------------------------------------------------------------
1. Make sure the GD754X OS/2 Driver disk is labeled "CL DISP" by using
DOS Label command (C:\DOS\LABEL A: or B:).
2. Install OS/2 v3.0 WARP! (if not already installed) and select "VGA" as
the primary display adapter during installation. Do not select
"Cirrus Logic" because it currently only supports Cirrus Logic
desktop products.
3. Insert the Cirrus Logic GD754X OS/2 v3.0 Driver disk into the floppy
drive.
4. Open an OS/2 Full-Screen session.
5. Change the prompt to the floppy drive which contains the driver disk.
6. Invoke the OS/2 batch file CLINST30.CMD using OS/2 boot drive, without
a colon, as the parameter ([A:\]CLINST30 C).
7. Select the primary display type with the "Cirrus Logic GD754X" title.
8. Follow the applicable directions to ensure a complete installation.
How to Change Screen Refresh Rates in OS/2 Desktop
--------------------------------------------------
1. During the driver installation process the Monitor Configuration/
Selection Utility dialog box will appear and display the following
choices:
(1) Default Monitor Type - this choice will use the monitor default
settings.
(2) Display Adapter Utility Program - with the aid of an application
program such as CLMODE.EXE, this choice allows the user to set various
screen refresh rates on all resolutions supported by their monitor.
A dialog box will appear asking for the location and name of
the utility program.
For example:
c:\vgautils\clmode.exe t640=75 t800=70 t1024=72 t1280=87
CLMODE.EXE comes with the DOS Drivers Disk
The new settings will be saved to the BIOS and OS/2 will invoke
SVGA.EXE to create a new SVGADATA.PMI file. The .PMI file will contain
the screen refresh rates chosen from the utility program.
How to Change Resolution & Colors in OS/2 Desktop
-------------------------------------------------
1. After driver installation is complete, open the System Setup folder.
2. Locate the System icon, mark it then hit the return key or double-click
the icon to execute the program.
3. The first screen has 2 pages. The first page displays all the available
resolutions, number of colors and screen refresh rate.
4. The second page has two sections: Display Name, which displays various
monitor types, and View Current Configuration, which displays the
maximum resolutions and screen refresh rates for the type of monitor
selected.
5. After the selections are made, close the System applet and execute a
Shutdown to allow the changes to take effect.
NOTE: Choosing different screen refresh rates in the System applet will
have NO effect to the current configuration.
How to Change Resolution & Colors in WIN-OS/2 Full-Screen Session
-----------------------------------------------------------------
1. The WIN-OS/2 full-screen or windowed session will be configured with the
same resolution and number of colors chosen for the OS/2 PM desktop. For
example, if 800x600x65536 colors is chosen in an OS/2 desktop, opening a
WIN-OS/2 session will also display 800x600x65536 colors.
NOTE: Do NOT execute Winmode to change resolution and colordepth in a
WIN-OS/2 session.
Known Problems
--------------
1. The title bar will disappear or will move to the bottom of the screen
when switching back from a PM desktop to an OS/2 full screen session.
Problem is evident only in SimulSCAN display using a resolution of
640x480 at 64K colors with an 800x600 SVGA TFT panel.
2. Launch OS/2 in SimulSCAN display. Open a DOS window then press Alt-Home
to open a full-screen DOS. The display in the Panel side will disappear.
Problem occurs with the following resolutions and colordepths:
640x480 256 & 64k colors
800x600 256 & 64k colors
1024x768 256 colors
3. Launch OS/2 in SimulSCAN display, open a full-screen OS/2 session then
press Alt-Esc to go back to the PM desktop. Open a full-screen DOS,
switch display to CRT, then close the DOS session. Press Alt-Esc until
the OS/2 full-screen display appears. This process will cause the panel
display to shake up and down. Problem occurs only with an 800x600 SVGA
TFT Panel when using the following resoltuions and colordepths:
640x480 256 & 64k colors
800x600 256 & 64k colors
1024x768 256 colors
